With New Year’s right around the corner, there is no time like the present to lay down plans for food and financial stability. When your client’s budgets are tight and food prices are rising, they could use some innovative ways to buy, prepare and eat healthy without breaking the bank. During this webinar, you’ll begin to understand why a food budget can be insurance against being hungry at the end of the month, gain some budget-friendly recipes for every household to enjoy, build your clients’ confidence to prepare nutritious food when time and money are limited, and gather invaluable resources for yourself and your clients. We truly want every participant to believe it when they say, “Yes! Anyone can eat healthy on the cheap!”
Webinar Objectives: By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to identify:
- 2 barriers that may prevent people from purchasing nutritious foods.
- 2 ways to encourage people to choose budget-friendly meals.
- 2 strategies to make sure meals come together quickly, cheaply and healthily.
More About the Speakers:
Holly Doan, RDN, LDN is a registered dietitian and licensed dietitian nutritionist. As a graduate of Messiah College and the Penn State Dietetic Internship, Holly brings a variety of experience and knowledge to her role as Regional Nutritionist for Giant Food Stores. She serves the Western and Central Pennsylvania areas in a variety of ways including health fairs, wellness tours, speaking engagements, media, and in-store events. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Pennsylvania Dietetic Association, and the previous treasurer for the Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ Political Action Committee.
Amanda Frankeny, RDN, LDN is a registered dietitian who holds a B.S. degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Messiah College and attained her Registered Dietitian credentials through Penn State University. Beginning her career, she co-authored entries for the Food Network’s Healthy Eats and the Be Well Philly blogs and offered professional insights for featured articles in Central Pennsylvania’s Patriot-News. She developed online nutrition education focused on employee wellness for various companies like Microsoft. She taught audiences from urban youth programs to undergraduates at Messiah College and Drexel University. Pleased to be the Pennsylvania Nutrition Education Network’s Community Nutritionist, she helps produce and share evidence-based nutrition resources, translates food research, and educates on relevant food policy affecting PA NEN’s membership of 2000+ health professionals.
Continuing Education Credit Information: Credits will be sent within 24 business hours after the webinar.
- PA NEN is awaiting approval to award registered dietitians and dietetic technicians with 1 Continuing Education Credit at CPE Level 1 from the Commission of Dietetic Registration. These credits are free to all participants.
- PA NEN is awaiting approval for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES) and/or Master Certified Health Education Specialists (MCHES) 1 total Category I Continuing Education Contact Hour (CECH). The cost for these credits is $20.
